Highveld Lions' captain speaks ahead of their CLT20 clash with Mumbai Indians In the opening game

Highveld Lions captain Alviro Petersen has said the favourites tag will weigh heavily on the star-studded Mumbai Indians when they take on his low-profile side in the opening game of the Champions League Twenty20 tournament on Friday in Johannesburg.

"I think all the pressure is on the Mumbai Indians, they are one of the clear favourites," Petersen said.

"And I like it that way, we can just play our natural game, and I like it when people write us off.

As a team we don't have many big names and on paper we're one of the weakest sides, but you don't play cricket on paper.

"No one's expecting anything from us and we showed in last year's Pro20 domestic tournament that all that matters is what we do on the day and what we do as a team," he said.

The Lions finished runners-up in South Africa's domestic Twenty20 competition last year.

The Lions have tried out various combinations in the lead-up to the tournament, and have a flexible batting line-up which can be changed according to the match situation.

"There are guys who can be used in different positions," Petersen said.

"For example, Neil McKenzie has opened the batting for us, but played in the middle-order for Hampshire and did very well there.

I myself am normally an opener, but I played in the middle-order for the Lions last season." Lions coach Dave Nosworthy was also optimistic ahead of the opening game and said that though his team lacked the star players that Mumbai possessed, they would not be lacking motivation.

"A big match in front of 30,000 spectators at the Bull Ring is enough to get anyone's adrenalin pumping," Nosworthy said, "and they will all be wanting to perform well on the international stage.

"We don't have the big stars like a Sachin Tendulkar or a Kieron Pollard or a Dwayne Bravo," he said.

"Alviro and Neil McKenzie both have Test cricket experience, and Vaughn van Jaarsveld has had a taste of international cricket, but the players all know what they are supposed to do, and in a T20 match, anyone can step forward and take the game away from the opposition."

Yamuna crosses danger mark, delhi under threat

With Haryana releasing 80,000 cusec water on Friday, the water level in the Yamuna here rose to 205.60 meters, nearly one metre above the danger mark, even as authorities evacuated more people from low-lying areas.

The water level in Yamuna crossed the danger mark of 204.83 metres on Thursday and officials fear that the level may even rise up to 207 metres by this evening as Haryana has released nearly 9 lakh cusec water in the last three days.

The water level reached 205.60 metres at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, a senior Delhi Government official said, adding that all steps are being taken to evacuate people living in low-lying areas.

“Haryana released 80,000 cusec water this morning and the level of Yamuna is 205.60 metres now,” he said.

The official said more people living in low-lying areas have been evacuated.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had on Thursday said all measures have been taken to deal with the “serious” situation.

The water level in the river rose to 205.60 metres this morning from 205.09 metres last night.

Although Haryana released nearly nine lakh cusec of water in last three days, officials say only 3.5 lakh cusec are expected to reach Delhi.

Flood Control Minister Raj Kumar Chouhan has said over 100 booster pumps were fitted along the banks of the river to pump out water which may enter the low-lying areas.

Last month too, the water level in the Yamuna rose above the danger level, prompting authorities to shift a large number of people to relief camps.

Google Instant gives Google an Instant EDGE..

In an Instant, Google pulls further ahead of Microsoft, Yahoo - Computerworld
Now that Microsoft's Bing and Yahoo officially have joined forces,Google needed to turn around and offer up a new, splashy feature that would give them a clear edge.

And that's just what Google did on Wednesday, when the company unveiled Google Instant, say industry analysts.

Google Instant is aimed at speeding search results by searching as you type. The new, dynamic feature, which began to be rolled out Wednesday, is about starting the search process before the user even finishes typing in the query. Google is now predicting what people will be asking for.The move is a "dramatic break" from the traditional Google search experience, says Hadley Reynolds, an analyst with IDC.

"The traditional Google search model was incredibly wasteful of users' time... Instant will help show what the right links are more quickly," he said.

Marissa Mayer, Google's vice president of Search Products, said, "The user benefits of Google Instant are many but the primary one is time saved." Mayer announced the new feature at the company's launch event in San Francisco yesterday.

"Our testing has shown that Google Instant saves the average searcher 2 to 5 seconds per search. That may not seem like a lot at first, but it adds up," she said.

Dan Olds, an analyst with The Gabriel Consulting Group, said he agreed that on first thought, it might not sound like a lot of time saved, but it could be enough to give Google a leg up on its search competition.

"Google did some more math and figured it would save users 3.5 billion seconds per day. I'm not sure what we're all going to do with the extra time, but hopefully we'll think of something," Olds said. "This gives Google something to brag about. I think that this is a feature that Microsoft will have to add to Bing in the near future. It's pretty useful and gives Google a clear competitive advantage."
